King Kaka Features Wrye And Nazizi In New Club Banger – Watch!

King Kaka has teamed up with Dancehall and reggae gurus Nazizi and Wyre for a club banger titled ‘Cheza Chini’.

King Kaka released the track sometime last year but now the remix is a whole better. ‘Cheza Chini’ is produced by Riccobeatz, recorded and mastered by Jack On The Beat while the video has been directed by Johnson Kyalo.

The song is definitely a nice reminder of how Necessary Noize rocked the airwaves back in the days.

New Music Alert: JuaCali Ft Wyre “Vile Naskia”

Kenya’s Genge master Juacali and the Dancehall and Reggae King Wyre have teamed up for a new jam.

Dubbed ‘Vile Naskia’, the track is a perfect blend of Ragga, Reggae and Genge.

Last time Wyre and Juacali collaborated on a track was four years ago with the ‘Khadija Remix’ and I must say they’ve killed it on this new track.

5 Kenyan Musicians Going Strong After A Decade

The Kenyan music industry has grown tremendously over the years. However, as many artists can attest to, it is not an easy industry to penetrate. It takes hard work, great talent and perseverance to remain relevant.

Artists have come and gone and some have managed to stay through it all. Let’s take a look at Kenyan musicians who are still here after more than a decade long:

Wyre

We got to know Wyre back in 2000 when he was in the music group Necessary Noise. The group ultimately split and Wyre continued doing music. 2013 became a great year for him when he released his single ‘Nakupenda pia’, a collaboration with one of Jamaica’s finest dancehall queens Alaine.

Wyre went on and scooped the Best New Entertainment award during the International Reggae and world Music Awards last year.

Redsan

He is considered as the king of Kenyan Dancehall and he sure is. Redsan burst to limelight in the 90 with hit songs like ‘Kenyan’, ‘Wanipa raha’, ‘Step On It’, ‘Chiken’ that made up his first album ‘Seasons of the San’ , released in 2002.

He has managed to remain relevant releasing hits over the years and becoming one of the most sort after Kenyan stage performers.

Jua Cali

Founding Calif Records with his friend clemo marked Jua Cali’s music journey back in 2000.

He recorded first song ‘Ruka’ , in 2001, and followed it with major hits like ‘Nipe Asali ’, ‘Kamata Dame’ a collaboration with Pilipili, ‘Kiasi’, ‘Kwaheri’, ‘hadija’, ‘Mtoto wa geti kali’ among others.

He has managed to stay relevant over the years with his music genre ‘Genge’.

Nameless

Nameless started singing when some of us were still in diapers (pun intended).

He is one of the pioneers of Genge having made his mark  when he joined Ogopa Deejays recording stable in 2001 recording his first single ‘Megarider’.

He has released hit over the years  and his first album ‘On Fire’ that was released in 2004 and went on to be awarded as the Best Album In East Africa in the 2005 Tanzanian Music Awards.

Nonini

He prefers to be reffered to as ‘the godfather of Genge’ probably because he’s been in the industry for a while now.

‘Manzi Wa Nairobi’ was his first hit track released in 2002 and we sure cannot forget ‘We Kamu’ that was a mega hit.

He has continued to release great music as well as forming and mentoring of the successful group P-Unit.

Wyre Drops Video To His Most Emotional Song Yet (Watch It Here)

Over a year ago, Wyre dropped his album LION live on Homeboyz Radio, an album he took years to produce and put together.

This reggae and dancehall crooner released that body of work in a first of its kind Radio launch which included a prelude of his life in music complete with interviews from his manager and artists who have been on the music scene as long as he has.

Among the collection of songs, was one that brought tears to his eyes (quite literally!!) during the LIVE radio launch and that is the jam whose video he has now released.

Named after his son, the album’s title track ‘LION’ is an emotional homage to the single most important person in Wyre’s life and is aptly shot to depict the depth of the feelings behind it.

Have you seen it yet? Here you go.

Wyre’s radio album launch preceded his nomination for multiple reggae awards both within and outside the country and was a three hour affair featuring interviews by G Money and DJ John.

THIS is how Successful Wyre’s been since the Release Of His LION Album

After launching an album that took close to a decade to write and produce, Wyre seems to be reaping the fruits of his labor as his American shows are turning out to be a complete success.

The reggae and dancehall crooner who had his beginnings as part of the trio ‘Necessary Noize’ posted a clip of how his show in Dallas was like, adding the caption;

Thank you Dallas!! Y’all were amazing. Sold Out!! #LION

Meanwhile, still in Texas, the AFRIMA Awards went down and we’ve got all the details on which of your favorite stars won.

5 Kenyan Tracks You Need To Be Listening To

Kenyan artiste are really taking their music game a couple of notches high and this list will prove just that. They are no longer afraid to step out of the shadow of their predecessors and do something different with their sound.

Wyre’s Preparing To Break His Long Silence Via This Continental Collabo

He made a big splash of his last album LION, releasing it exclusively on HBR and after embarking on a country wide tour, this dancehall music crooner went quiet on us but he has returned.

From a tweet sent out by South African management company Bashment Sound, it appears that Wyre has a South African collabo about to drop soon featuring on a single with South Africa’s up and coming artist NC Dread.

Who is NC Dread? Well he has got an album called ‘Hustle’ out and this just one single off of it.

So. Are you excited about that collabo?
