Following hot on the heels of her last release, Offset featured ‘No Drama’, Tinashe is now on Record of the Week (ROTW) with her latest release ‘Me So Bad’.
This after we’d listed a number of new singles that we projected to be ROTW this week, seems we were right in choosing this Ty Dolla $ign and French Montana collabo (‘Me So Bad’) as one in the number.
‘Me So Bad’ has an uptempo vibe to it which is very playful and catchy, plus, it dropped with it’s accompanying video which matches the jam’s energy with a bright color palate and sultry visuals.
Released this Easter weekend, ‘Me So Bad’ features lyrics such as …
I know you want my free time I know that we don’t play that, that, that, that I’m walking on a thin line I’m hoping that it break, break, break, break, break I’m tryna give you FaceTime, yeah Don’t mean you wanna wait, wait, wait, wait, wait I wanna better bassline, I wanna better bassline
Every week, we give one jam the honor of enjoying a week’s long heavy airplay on HBR.
Last week the honor was Rich The Kid’s ‘Plug Walk’ but as we are yet to have a ROTW for this week, we thought it best to list a couple of new singles that may just be next in line.
Konshens – ‘Big Belly’ ft Rick Ross & Rvssian)
Though not quite your usual Caribbean flavoured jam, it has been quite some time since we featured a Jamaican artist on ROTW and this single which features Maybach Music mogul Rick Ross, definitely plays into our strengths being that it is a Hip Hop single.
‘Me So Bad’ by Tinashe ft Ty Dolla $ign and French Montana
Following her ‘No Drama’ single featuring Migos super star Offset, Tinashe might be on ROTW with this playful jam ‘Me So Bad’. It’s uptempo which makes for an almost definite banger with the added advantage of featuring HBR staple artists Ty Dolla and F Montana.
‘Love Struck’ by WSTRN, Tiwa Savage and Mr. Eazy.
Wouldn’t be the first time that this UK based RnB crew made it onto ROTW having had their single ‘Textin’ become ROTW. The crew seem to be targeting that spot with their latest release which is a collaboration with West African stars Tiwa Savage and Mr. Eazy.
‘Suicidal’ by Diplo ft Desiigner.
This Major Lazer producer and deejay never disappoints when it comes to producing hit singles and this new one he’s come out with features Trap star Desiigner.
It was once rumored to always be a race-to-the-top between Niaja emcees Davido and Wizkid.
Well, Wizkid’s got a number of chart topping international collabos and whether it’s in proof of their long lasting competition or not, Davido has only just also released another one of his international collabos and it’s already made it to be Record of the Week (ROTW).
Featuring Rae Ssremurd and Young Thug, this Sony signed star goes ham on the DJ Mustard produced beat worthy of the top position on any music chart, somegthing we already predict to happen.
Davido who has been in the country a number of times has had a few cross over hits before now, with artists from Africa like Mafikizolo and Diamond Platnumz as well American singer Tinashe.
The video to this brand new one, ‘Pere’ garnered over one million views in under 5 days and will now enjoy a week’s long airplay and bragging rights as HBR’s record of the week.
After releasing the audio for “Slumber Party” featuring up and coming female R&B pop star, Tinashe, Britney Spears has decided to remind us just how sexy she is on the track’s visual.
The Colin Tilley-directed video (the same guy who has made videos for pop stars like Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj in the past) depicts a wild all-night bash that the pop princess and Tinashe attend. In between seducing men in a darkened mansion, the duo almost have their own Britney/Madonna moment.
“Slumber Party” is the second single and video off of Britney’s ninth studio album, Glory, which was released in August of this year.
Tinashe’s collaboration with Davido on ‘How Long’ seems to have done the two stars some good because the song is getting massive airplay and even making people have an appreciation for African infused music like Taraji P.Henson, or as most of us like to call her ‘cookie’ the empire star.
Just a few hours ago, Tinashe released it and announced the news through twitter. The 15-track project includes three of Tinashe’s recent singles: “Company,” “Ride of Your Life,” and “Party Favors.”
However, Tinashe hasn’t found a major hit to follow up the success of “2 On” with ScHoolboy Q. Hopefully, Nightride will get her back on the track.
First off, did you know that Tinashe is part Zimbabwe? No? You’re welcome. She and Davido, who has been silent for a while now, dropped their first ever collaboration video a few hours ago named ‘How Long’. The song can be found in his album ‘Son of Mercy’ which also contains a song named ‘Gbagbe Oshi’ that he released prior to this one.
The Aye star keeps on taking major milestones in his career everyday and now, the man with the baby dimples has now signed a deal with RCA which is a company that holds names like Taylor swift, ASAP Rocky, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Zayn Malik, Usher, T-Pain, Shakira, Justin Timberlake and so many more so you see why we are so proud of our African brother for putting Africa on a global scale in terms of music.
Efe Ogbeni, an A&R man working with such artists as Quincy Jones and Enrique Iglesias broke the news on his instagram page, “Welcome to #RCA @rcarecords @davidoofficial‘ chairman #peteredge we start the GRIND #afrofusion is here”. We do know he has something brewing with Tinashe and we can’t wait to see the final result. Congratulations to him and every other African artist who continue to push Africa’s name beyond its boundaries.
Right after Wizkid snags the number one spot on Billboard’s Top 100 thanks to Drake’s ‘Views’ single ‘One Dance’, Davido is in studio feeling the pressure to match up to (or possibly out do) him.
The recently signed Sony Music Global artist has been talking about his star studded album whose release date remains unknown and he’s now teased us with an in-studio pic of him hanging out with ‘2 On’ singer Tinashe, captioning it;
