DK Kwenye Beat Releases New Jam And Responds To Body Shamers

DK Kwenye Beat first came onto the public stage when his Saint P produced single ‘Sari Sari’ hit airwaves and reigned supreme on most gospel music charts.

Since then this emcee has frequented entertainment news sites, most recently and sadly thanks to fat shaming haters.

DK Kwenye Beat may have gained weight and while he’s comfortable with this, you bet KOT had a lot to say about that.

The comments kept flooding his timeline but DK seemed to take it all in stride, even re-posting some of the hateful posts on his own social media.

They included;

Preceding the release of his single ‘Kijana Wa Kayole’, DK Kwenye Beat appeared to respond to the body shaming comments via an IG post that implied that the comments HAD in fact been affecting him, so mush so, that he’d almost quit social media.

His post read;

The tongue has no bone, but it is strong enough to break a heart. 😔. Social media is a hostile path to walk on, especially when you are not PERFECTLY created or have a body like mine. I won’t quit social media as I had intended, I will instead share my story to inspire another. #comingsoon
#KijanaWaKayole.

Well the wait is over as DK Kwenye Beat released that video this weekend, receiving quite the reception with a twitter top trend and a Tukuza Countdown debut at number 7!

Here’s his new single.

Cardi B’s Reign Continues! Check Out Her Bruno Mars Collabo

I read a quote on instagram last year that read…. “May 2018 be as good for you as 2017 was to Cardi B’.

Definitely made for a hilarious new year’s message but isn’t that true?

I mean Cardi B seemed to have come out of nowhere with her ‘Bodak Yellow’ single, capturing all our attention with a long stay at number one with that particular single.

This former reality TV show star had been recording and putting out mix-tapes long before that, but what has been most impressive about her is her continuity.

Unlike other artists to have enjoyed a fast catapult to the top of the industry, (like Korean star Psy with ‘Gangnam Style’), Cardi B has so far managed to clutch onto the top spot, getting featured on Migos’s single ‘Motor Sport’ and releasing three of her own singles, including this Bruno Mars collaboration.

Featuring on this 24K Magic star’s single ‘Finesse’ Cardi B is clearly looking to cement her place as one of this generation’s top rated artist.

As for whether or not Cardi B is doing at good job at that, (at cementing her place in the ‘book of legends’)… we’d say she’s well on her way given this post that Bruno Mars shared on his social media, describing her. It read…

I met cardi B at 3 am after my show in LA backstage where we recorded her verse for Finesse. She walked in the room and she was everything I’d hope she’d be. Never change cardi! Don’t let this crazy music business change who you are. You posses something that can’t be taught. You’re a true star. Thank you for putting your energy and love all over this record and video. I hope you feel better soon because we got some celebrating to do. Everyone show ya love for the one and only CARDI B! 👏👏👏👏 #Finesse

Watch Roc Nation Signee Tiwa Savage’s Epic New Album Teaser

This past year, Tiwa Savage released a barrage of hits and we got to know her a lot better .

Within the year, news of her tremulous marriage hit the scene but she managed to quickly douse those talks by coming out with even more hits and then getting signed by Jay Z’s massive record label Roc Nation.

Tiwa Savage has pretty much collaborated with every massive star from Africa (and beyond it) including Wizkid and Busy Signal, which of course leaves us wondering just how much more massive her next music collection will be like.

Turns out, we won’t be waiting much longer as Tiwa Savage herself teased her upcoming release posting;

In case you didn’t know, we KILLED it this year
Can’t stop, Won’t stop

Dubbed ‘Sugar Cane’, the epic video trailer which showcases a bit of Tiwa Savage’s musical journey (from her recent past) has been described by her Naija based production house, Mavin Records, as ‘her sweetest work yet’.

Patoranking Makes #ROTW With Diamond Collabo

He may be West African but Patoranking definitely channels Jamaican-Caribbean vibes in most of his songs and this Diamond Platnumz collaboration is no different.

Carrying forward from Lil Uzi’s second stay at Record of the Week, these two African music powerhouses will now be enjoying heavy airplay with their single which is a story of love, depicting the star as a sorptive baby father.

Check it out;

Patoranking gained fame here in Kenya when he teamed up with ‘Yolo Yolo’ singer Seyi Shay for the hit track ‘Murda‘ but slowly garners his own popularity with hit singles ‘No Kissing Baby‘ and more notably ‘My Woman, My Everything‘.

Seyi-Shay-Murda-International

This Naija star was previously rumored to have fathered a child out of wedlock when he posted multiple pics of a young who looked a lot like him, but later cleared things up when he alleged that the boy was actually his younger brother.

Prior to the release of ‘Love You Die’, Patoranking stirred up yet another baby mama rumor by posting pics that we can now see were in fact from the set of this new video but which as you can expect, led his to believe that the star was welcoming his child. Talk about fooling the media.

Oh The Feels! Here’s Phy’s Tear Filled Video Teaser

If her jam Taboo/Taabu taught us anything, it’s that Phy Ng’etich is a connoisseur at singing songs that are packed with feels.

This Maisha Superstars winner has achieved major feats since her million shillings win, some of which included ranking high on multiple music charts in East Africa and giving Kenyan classics incredible ‘make-overs’ on her sophomore album ‘BiograPhy’.

While we have enjoyed watching her perform at many shows, she’s about to return to your airwaves on a brand new single whose video Phy teased and it looks like she’s about to do what only she does best…. sing an emotion filled jam.

Not sure if it will be a Ballard or not but either way, history has proven that you can do no wrong with this sultry singer and as the video suggests, we will be fining out just how good Phy’s soon-to-be-latest release will be by the 15th of September 2017.

Nicki Minaj Goes Gospel.

Grammy award-winning gospel singer Tasha Cobbs has been receiving more than enough backlash for this “ungodly” collaboration but guess what? She paid no mind to all the critics & she’s “getting ready for overflow” sure as hell bringing Trinidad rapper Onika Tanya Maraj, aka Nicki Minaj with her on the recently released “I’m getting ready” track.

I bet you’re wondering Nicki Minaj gone gospel? Well, here’s what she raps about in the song:

“Yo, aye yo, beach house vibes maneuver the jetski
‘Cause-’cause I serve the God that parted the red sea
Multi-million dollars commercials for Pepsi
From food-stamps to more ice than Gretzky
I don’t gotta talk the Lord defends me
I watch them all fall for going against me
‘Cause me and all my angels shot the devil up
While you was trying to pull me down I levelled up
I levelled up twice, I levelled up three times

He tapped ’em and told ’em “she’s mine”
So even when I cried I knew I’d be fine
Prepare for a miracle blessing in these times
Now praise Him, raise Him, name it, claim it
Every tongue that rises up against me, shame it
I breathe success in and out my lungs

I got the power of life and death coming out of my tongue

The track is off Tasha’s 4th album: Heart, Passion, Pursuit.

The 8 minute song has sparked the “secular + gospel collabo” debate once again online with some saying that the gospel singer will be fully accountable for the souls lost after listening to Nicki, while others of a different opinion say that it will minister to non Christians.

Some have added that both artistes are being hypocritical and that some of the blessings Nicki is rapping about could as well be from the devil. (Ouch!)

In her defense, Tasha recently told Essence that “I’ve seen the Nicki that is off the stage and that Nicki has a great relationship with God,” “My assignment with this song was for a particular audience. Some [of the listeners] have never experienced God ever and she exposed that audience in her way, to the God that she loves.”

She added,“This is not an assignment that man gave to me. This is an assignment that God gave to me, and He prepared the way for me, as only God could.”

She also said that she has received many testimonies from people who never believed in God till they listened to the collab.

When all is said and done, one thing for sure is that this song will present Tasha Cobbs Leonard to a whole new audience.

After Killing It On Drake’s ‘KMT’, Here’s Giggs’ Latest Feature

In case you have any doubts about just how big of a genre Grime is, you need only watch how people react to Drake’s KMT featuring UK artist Giggs. We guarantee they will wait till the last few lines (Giggs’ lines) to turn up and it will probably look a little like this.

Giggs’ part of that banger is undoubtedly the most turnt part and possibly for that reason, English DJ, producer, actor and TV presenter Charlie Sloth enlisted the help of this Grime emcee for his latest drop ‘Wake Up.

In the same fashion as Jay Z’s now world popular animated video for ‘Story of OJ’ (Former Record of the Week), the video to Charlie’s ‘Wake Up’ is also animated, featuring cartoon versions of Charlie and Giggs.

Watch this brand new video which by the way happens to be no more than two minute twelve seconds long below.

Kiu Music Planning What Looks Like an Epic Comeback (Pics)

We known them as the trio that sang ‘Mwanake’ and who absolutely bodied Davido’s ‘Aye’ by giving it what is probably the only accapella cover on YouTube.

The three ladies of Kenyan music band Kiu have since gone on to release a remix to their debut hit single ‘Mwanake’ (The Dudu Manyoya Remix) but went on a haitus after that.

Until now.

From the looks of their Instagram (Kiu @kiumusic), these girls will soon return to your airwaves with a brand new single called ‘Keki’ which as far as we know, is set to be accompanied by its video.

They are yet to respond with just when we should expect this double release but until we get confirmation, for your viewing pleasure, here are some of Kiu’s newly released images.

Bamboo Drops New Music and Weighs In On The ‘Naija Music’ Convo

Bamboo was today’s (Tuesday July 4th) music room guest and over and above rating new music out of 10 (as is the norm on music room Tuesdays), he dropped a brand new jam and talked about many other things including music, life, family and being labeled a ‘gospel musician’.

To address the latter, Bamboo who very publicly became born again and was largely perceived to be a gospel musician who was, last we heard, working on a gospel album, said he’d rather not be labeled as a gospel artist because that would be ‘putting him in a box’.

After spending some time away in West Africa, it seems this rapper made a few new friends and had enough time to get in the booth them which is how this new jam of his came about.

The new single ‘Aiyayayaya’ (which you can listen to below) was exclusively previewed on Mwalimu Rachel’s #Class124 show is a good feel and uptempo jam which features Bamboo’s signature flow.

Bamboo who spent some time in Nigeria cited a few differences between our music industry and the largest one to him being the fact that they (Naija people) show a whole lot more love for their own artists than we, (Kenyan people) show to our own.

IMG_20170704_151642

A lot has been said and written about this emcee who at one point was rumored to be engaged to a Ugandan preacher named Erica who at one point met Satan through an awkward interaction with Ugandan singer Chameleon.

Yeah the things you’ll read about online.

Bamboo weighed in on a lot more than just music, letting us in on just how close he is with his famous sister Victoria Kimani saying “we’re not just close cause we’re family but she is like one of the boys”.

His brand new jam might be a lead up to a music compilation and to find out about that you should definitely be on our radar.

Kenrazy Releases New Banger “Ile Kitu”

A decade after releasing TICHI, a song that was labeled the most addictive track in Chaguo La Teenies Awards, Kenrazy has been releasing hits after hits and now he’s back with yet another, dubbed “Ile Kitu”.

“Ile Kitu”, produced by Stevo, is a club banger that finds Kenrazy labeling himself the best lyricist.

Be the judge of that by having a listen below:
