Just a few weeks after releasing ‘Say Nanana’, a collaborative effort with Grammy Award winning Israeli violinist Miri Ben-Ari, Gilad has now teamed up with the melodious Superband in a new track dubbed ‘Nairobi Yangu.’
Produced by Harmony Africa and directed by Mushking paints, the song celebrates Nairobi, and the video kind of makes you see a whole different side to the capital city.
The diplomat turned musician has teamed up with Grammy Award winning Israeli violinist Miri Ben-Ari in a sizzling new song dubbed “Say Nanana”.
Miri is commonly known as The Hip Hop violinist, having worked with Kanye West, Jay Z, Maroon5, Twister among others.
According t Gilad, He and Miri have been buddies for a decade now having met in L.A. He added that there are plans to hook her up with more Kenyan artists.
“She has not been to Africa before but we have ideas to hook her up with other talented Kenyan artists so that they can make beautiful music together. She is a down to earth person and very humble. She is a nice person to work with.”
Wendy kimani has been pregnant for a while now, 30 weeks to be precise, and she can’t help but gush about her awaited bundle of joy while enjoying her time in Denmark with her other half. She might have accidentally, or maybe not so much, revealed the sex of her baby on Instagram. She posted a picture of her embracing her bump in a sculpting class and captioned it “So my little baby and I posed for a sculpting class…We were supposed to stay really still but hekicked the whole time…. #lovingthosekicks #pregnancyjourney #30weekspregnant”
This got alot of people excited and wishing her all best in her pregnancy as do we. Lets just hope she’ll be as generous in sharing some baby pics once she delivers.
Vera Nazarian said, “A choir is made up of many voices, including yours and mine. If one by one all go silent then all that will be left are the soloists. Dont let a loud few determine the nature of the sound. It makes for poor harmony and diminishes the song.”
It is easy to feel alone, powerless, helpless, in a system that favors those who are older and moneyed. It is easier to resign yourself to fate and let the greater powers that be, determine our collective destiny. Seemingly; because there is nothing easy about letting another determine your future when the power lies with you.
alone and collectively as young people, we must make our voices heard until the resounding echoes drown out all else.
If it is change we want, we must demand for it consciously and decisively by voting en masse for people we know have our best interest at heart. We know the future we desire, we can paint it in words, melodies and actions. The first step towards manifesting that is taking a voter’s card and then educating ourselves on what every candidate out there stands for, then calling them to task over each promise and how they plan to fulfill it.
Yes there is a deep void, it is undeniable. we cannot stand in the periphery of change and then hope that it will come by some act of God. No! We must steer our ship even though we may have little controll over the tempestuos seas about us. We must make informed choices so that our power never escapes our grip. We, you and i, are still in control. We need to believe that and action that. Lastly, to all the youth out there, you are the soloist of this choir. Carry this tune with the care it deserves. Belt it out so that all and sundry can sing back in perfect pitch. Because the adage still rings true. “We are the ones we’ve been looking for. We are the change we seek.” Paza sauti!!!
Do we love it when these two artists collaborate in a song? Is the earth round? Yes and yes. When they brought us ‘Unajua’, which has hit over a million views of YouTube, people could not get enough of it. Even now it is still receiving massive airplay. They previewed the song ‘Usiende’ a while back in Egypt which made Wendy Kimani the first Kenyan artist to release a song there.
Still in the process of shooting the video, Gilad took to his Instagram to give us a little something of the video that is set to drop soon writing, ” Sometimes when things seem a bit crazy out there i turn to music for peace & love #usiende- Gilad & Wendykims (official music video) coming soon…#musicforthesoul #trustlife.”
