Going to game week 23 is probably the hardest stage of the Fantasy Premier League(FPL) this season. Liverpool have sold Phil Coutinho to Barcelona dealing FPL managers with a huge blow.
Before we speak about Coutinho and other signings, with the second FPL wildcard available(although I would propose you wait until the transfer window shuts), here are a few tips you can follow before making those transfers.
How is your goalkeeper doing? Are you one of those people who have a strong forward and weak backline? Well, you may consider keeper like Pope(£4.8m), Fabianski, Pickford, Ryan and Lossi all who are valued at £4.6m and have scored 84 points so far.
West Ham’s Adrian had a fantastic performance against Spurs and Moyes may give him a chance. Southampton’s Alex McCarthy is another option as we head to January-March period. In their next 10 matches, only Spurs and Liverpool we can say can worry you but other games will definitely bring points.
He’s valued at £4.4m. Good bargain I guess.
Everton have signed Cenk Tosun. You probably heard Dj John try to give details about this guy on Fanzone last Saturday. Tosun can deliver, Everton needs him. He’s worthy £7.5m in the FPL and scored 41 goals in 96 appearances for Beskitas.
Now to the big issue, Philip Coutinho. Already a Barcelona player and you must transfer him out. He scored 103 points and cost managers £9.1m upon his transfer to Barcelona.
His exit will affect the performance of Mo Salah and Firmino who have been lighting up the FPL this season. Probably time you should stick only with Salah or Firmino but not both of them.
With Sanchez not sure whether he’s going to Man City, probably you would think to replace Coutinho with Hazard. Yes, Hazard.
The Belgian can justify his tag as a Fantasy heavyweight over the second half of the season.
Hazard returned to the Chelsea attack in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal in Gameweek 22 and fired six shots inside the penalty area.
The recent return to action of Alvaro Morata (£10.5m) can help Hazard regain his FPL form. He will be expected to return from a calf injury to face Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 23.
The Foxes have managed a single clean sheet away from home all season.
Staying with Liverpool, is it about you considered their defence? Virgil Van Dijk is an option to sign. He is set to become a mainstay in Klopp’s back for the remainder of the season.
A goal threat at set-plays, as he showed in the FA Cup on Friday, Van Dijk is poised for a testing Premier League debut for Liverpool against Man City on 14 January in Gameweek 23.
Top performing players in the FPL include De Gea, Alonso-Azpilicueta-Otamendi, Salah-Sterlin-De Bruyne-Mahrez-Eriksen and Kane-Aguero.
