We Called It! Tinashe’s New Single Now ROTW

Following hot on the heels of her last release, Offset featured ‘No Drama’, Tinashe is now on Record of the Week (ROTW) with her latest release ‘Me So Bad’.

This after we’d listed a number of new singles that we projected to be ROTW this week, seems we were right in choosing this Ty Dolla $ign and French Montana collabo (‘Me So Bad’) as one in the number.

‘Me So Bad’ has an uptempo vibe to it which is very playful and catchy, plus, it dropped with it’s accompanying video which matches the jam’s energy with a bright color palate and sultry visuals.

Released this Easter weekend, ‘Me So Bad’ features lyrics such as …

I know you want my free time
I know that we don’t play that, that, that, that
I’m walking on a thin line
I’m hoping that it break, break, break, break, break
I’m tryna give you FaceTime, yeah
Don’t mean you wanna wait, wait, wait, wait, wait
I wanna better bassline, I wanna better bassline

Here’s the dope video to it.

We Were ‘Nuh Ready’ For This Calvin Harris & Party Next Door ROTW

Calvin Harris has shattered music records in the past with massive hit singles like the Rihanna featured ‘We Found Love’ and his recent music compilation featured unforgettable hits like ‘Feels’ featuring Katy Perry, Pharrell & Big Sean so it’s safe to say that you can’t go wrong with this producer/deejay.

Teaming up with Canadian based emcee and OVO signed Party Next Door, Calvin Harris brings us a new sound on ‘Nuh Ready’ which is now our ROTW.

‘Nuh Ready’ features that Caribbean vibe that Party Next Door is most known for while incorporating an interesting array of sounds like the trumpets.

For a deejay whose initial sound was considered to be primarily house, it would seem that there is clearly no telling what kind of record this UK based producer will put out next, so no, we were ‘nuh ready’ for this.

We are however, pleasantly surprised and with the kind of reception this single has been getting online, our opinion is clearly widely shared.

The ‘Nuh Ready’ video is also something you want to check out what-with it’s 90s-esque, green screen vibe that is sure to leave you mesmerized.

It’s Good Vibes Only With M.O, Mr. Eazy & Lotto Boyz on ROTW

If you’re all about staying away from bad vibes this year, then this is definitely the anthem for you.

British girl group M.O teamed up with Naija singer Mr. Eazi and UK crew Lotto Boyz for the single ‘Bad Vibes’, which speaks intently on avoiding bad vibes with a chorus that reads;

Go away, go away, go away, go away
If you’re only gonna bring bad vibe, bad vibe, bad vibe, bad vibes
You can stay, you can stay, you can come over here
If you know how to have good time, good time, good time, good time

Don’t want none of that, no, none of that
Don’t want none of that, no, none of that, no
Don’t want none of your bad vibe, bad vibe, bad vibes
Don’t want none of that, no, none of that
Don’t want none of that, no, none of that, no
Don’t want none of your bad vibe, bad vibe, bad vibes

Well good times are clearly depicted in the colorful video which dropped on GRM Daily and because we are also all about staying as far away from bad vibes as possible, this single takes over ROTW from Culture II creators Migos and their ‘Superstar’ single.

Sauti Sol Become First Kenyan ROTW This Year

It was a long awaited collabo that Kenyan music group Sauti Sol teased via a series of tantalizing pics on social media.

Alluding to a time when singer Bien Aime boldly professed his love for Naija songstress Tiwa Savage, this BET nominated crew only just released this Pan-African collaboration, which they chose to title ‘Girl Next Door’.

The video which is incredibly shot, features authentic African city/town-scapes and showcases Tiwa in a both a blonde hairdo and a revealing tank top.

Like most of their music videos, ‘Girl Next Door’ is fast going viral and if you love it as much as we do, then you’ll definitely love hearing it over and over again as this week’s Record of the Week.

Are We Ready For A Sauti Sol Tiwa Savage Collabo? (Teaser)

They closed off 2018 with their sensual Patoranking collabo ‘Melanin’ and it looks like they intend on opening the year with yet another collabo, this time with African femcee Tiwa Savage.

Teasing the upcoming Maleek Berry produced single ‘Girl Next Door’ via instagram, the singers poked fun at Bien Aime’s long standing infatuation with the ‘Eminado’ singer, posting;

On the down low i’ve been loving Eminado tangu enzi za maziwa ya Nyayo #GirlNextDoor #AfrikanSauce …Out next week, Wednesday at 10am (EAT)/ 8am (WAT). Set your reminders fam! Prod by @maleekberry

(Bien Aime and Tiwa Savage)

You can tell from the short teaser that this is a sweet love song and Tiwa Savage even flexes her Swahili singing the line…

‘Sina noma hii wikendi niko easy’

Cardi B’s Reign Continues! Check Out Her Bruno Mars Collabo

I read a quote on instagram last year that read…. “May 2018 be as good for you as 2017 was to Cardi B’.

Definitely made for a hilarious new year’s message but isn’t that true?

I mean Cardi B seemed to have come out of nowhere with her ‘Bodak Yellow’ single, capturing all our attention with a long stay at number one with that particular single.

This former reality TV show star had been recording and putting out mix-tapes long before that, but what has been most impressive about her is her continuity.

Unlike other artists to have enjoyed a fast catapult to the top of the industry, (like Korean star Psy with ‘Gangnam Style’), Cardi B has so far managed to clutch onto the top spot, getting featured on Migos’s single ‘Motor Sport’ and releasing three of her own singles, including this Bruno Mars collaboration.

Featuring on this 24K Magic star’s single ‘Finesse’ Cardi B is clearly looking to cement her place as one of this generation’s top rated artist.

As for whether or not Cardi B is doing at good job at that, (at cementing her place in the ‘book of legends’)… we’d say she’s well on her way given this post that Bruno Mars shared on his social media, describing her. It read…

I met cardi B at 3 am after my show in LA backstage where we recorded her verse for Finesse. She walked in the room and she was everything I’d hope she’d be. Never change cardi! Don’t let this crazy music business change who you are. You posses something that can’t be taught. You’re a true star. Thank you for putting your energy and love all over this record and video. I hope you feel better soon because we got some celebrating to do. Everyone show ya love for the one and only CARDI B! 👏👏👏👏 #Finesse

Diamond Teams Up With Rick Ross on #ROTW

From the man who already has numerous collaborations and affiliations with international stars one of whom is Ne-yo, comes yet another fire collaboration.

Diamond Platnumz reflects on just how great a journey he has had thus far in his most recent album ‘A Boy From Tandale’, and is ruling airwaves on HBR as your Record of the Week with his Rick Ross single ‘Waka’.

The single (Waka) which only just dropped features some rather explicit lyrics from this ‘Na Na Na’ singer like the hook which reads….

F**k you like nobody
Sucking your all body
Rocking everyday party
Clean b**ch playing dirty

Having had quite the eventful year with entertainment news sites having a field day with the infinitely scandal that he, his wife Zari and assumed mistress Hamisa Mobetto were involved in, it’s definitely a good change of pace that this Bongo Flava star redirects our attention back to his music, and what better way than by working with one of Hip Hop’s most iconic stars.

The album also features a number of other big names like Grammy Award Winning Hip Hop violinist Miri Ben Ari

‘Waka’ took over from Nav’s Lil Uzi featured single ‘Wanted You’.

125 Music Getting Ready To Drop Next Hit

They were last on the scene with their ‘Vicheche’ hit single and by then, they had been talking about working on a music compilation that we would get to hear of soon.

125 Music may have taken somewhat of a ‘back seat’ on the scene since their Red Acapella song ‘Taabu’, but from our conversation with one third of the group, Ray, the trio is actually getting ready to heat things up with a double drop of a jam and a video.

Though he kept a tight lip over the song’s details, we did manage to gather that the track will in fact be a collaboration and our sources tell us the artist to be featured on the 125 music song could be one among the following; Khaligraph Jones, Nyashinski, Sage or songstress Rosa.

Now while a Sage collaboration would be most likely, seeing as how they do share a production house, the two have already crossed paths in the past on the melodic ‘Can’t Take It’ single which also featured Mtaani show presenter Didge.

Rosa would be a fantastic pick based solely on her sultry vocals and a fire collaboration would definitely be the result of a Khaligraph or Nyashinski featured project.

While we may not know exactly who among the four it is, it turns out we don’t have much longer to wait as 125 music reportedly plans to shoot the video to this unreleased single this next week.

Migos Teases A Drake Collaboration

Quavo may have well spilled the tea on an upcoming collabo during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid on Tuesday (Feb. 1).

“[Drake] always be popping up and lettin’ us know he sees us,” Quavo said. “We ain’t got no relationship with him, but I know he watching and I know he respects the wave and he knows what’s going on.” After a small pause, he teased: “And we got something on the way.”

This will not be the first time Migos and Drake come together in a song. They have previously shut it down when Drake dropped some bars in the Versace remix that debuted at number 99 on the billboard top 100.

However, given the fact that Culture was just released and Drizzy’s More Life is soon to come, fans believe it might arrive on the upcoming Apple Music project. Currently, while Drake is on his Boy Meets World tour, Migos is celebrating the success of their first no.1 single ‘bad and boujee’.

Chance the Rapper & Anderson .Paak Preview New Song

Yesterday, Anderson .Paak posted a Snapchat video which shows Chance the Rapper and himself hanging out and having a drink while bumping their own unreleased track.

.Paak says in the clip: “It’s still West Side, West Side right on time, n*gga. This is to a good year.” The song finds Chano delivering vocals over a funky instrumental.

Both artists are currently nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammys, and they’ve collaborated previously on Chance’s Coloring Book cut, “Blessings (Reprise),” with .Paak offering supporting vocals.

Hopefully we’ll see the dream link up come to fruition. Meantime you can relive their previous collaboration here.
