He is an Italian -German raised star of Eritrean decent and Afro B got his artist name from being synonymous with Afrobeats and his most iconic works are his Afrowave mixtapes (of which he has only one).
From his upcoming Afrowave mixtape ‘Afrowave 2’, Afro B’s critically acclaimed jam ‘Drogba’ (Joana) is now ROTW, taking the reigns from DJ Khaled’s ‘Top Off’ which was ROTW all week last week.
‘Drogba’ features Afro B’s iconic afrobeats feel and catchy chorus which really is the name ‘Joana’ sang repeatedly.
Kojo Funds and Raye just found a way to bring back to life, a Craig David single that is a classic!
Taking an interesting spin on Craig’s ‘7 Days’, this rapper teams up with Raye for club banger ‘Check’ and after listening to it, it’s not hard to see why there’s so much craze over this hit.
If we learnt anything from Grime Week last year, it’s that most UK urban artists have some African decent and the same is true from Kojo, who hails from the same area as icons Dizee Rascal and Wiley.
‘Check’ is yet another successful hit from this rapper whose viral hits are a part of his legacy. In the jam, Kojo delivers incredible lyrics and the song features the catchy hook in which Raye kicks of singing;
Everything you say is true I’d be a mess here without you And I’ll hold you down, you don’t need to stress So let me just lay upon your chest
Kojo then joins in for the main chorus which goes…
She makin’ me weed check Grinder check Rizla check I got the lighter check Roll the weed and let me smoke the zest And you can lay upon my chest She makin’ me weed check Grinder check Rizla check I got the lighter check Roll the weed and let me smoke the zest And you can lay upon my chest
It’s also got a dope video where the two stars play love interests in a steamy club scene.
Kojo’s ‘Check’ takes over from another UK based ROTW which was ‘Bad Vibe’ by M.O, Mr. Eazy and Lotto Boyz.
As it turns out, the rumors of a P Square split may have been a lot more than just simple rumors.
It was said that the twins who have made incredible success in music, landing international collaborations long before we glorified fellow Naija stars Wizkid and Davido for doing the same, have been at odds for the better part of two years now.
Paul and Peter who make up the renown duo P Square once revealed that they were having trouble with their manager (also brother) Jude and were both planning to split but those rumors were watered down by the fact that they shortly after that, bought lavish mansions adjacent to one another.
After ruling charts with their hit singles ‘Shekini’, ‘Bank Alert’ and ‘Nobody Ugly’, P Square seem to have hit some more turbulent waters after they trended online thanks to this video of what appears to be all three brothers getting into a heated fight.
From that video, Jude threatens to beat up Peter (who is the one filming the video) while Paul is seen to be telling Peter ‘Shame on you’ repeatedly.
According to online reports, this all started when Peter, through a letter sent to their lawyer (whose office they were allegedly in) said he’d like to quit the group and based it on some serious allegations against his twin Paul and their elder brother and manager, Jude.
News source The Vanguard summarized their tremulous situation by writing;
He (Peter) accused Paul of no longer willing to co-operate with him, and of even going as far as cancelling their scheduled music tour to the United States. He added that Paul was also slandering his wife and children with lies on social media, and alleged that his family was being threatened with threat messages. Peter further accused his older brother Jude of once threatening to kill him and shoot his wife Lola. Peter stressed that he was tired of the “drama.” He had gone ahead to perform solo at a show in Philadelphia which he revealed on a Snapchat video. However, his brother and estranged partner, Paul had taken to his instagram page days later to write; “Only a woman can come where there’s peace and destroy it”.
That video was apparently leaked by Peter and as soon as the issue started to trend, Paul caught wind of it and reacted to his twin posting the video with a twitter post that read;
“Wow!!!! And he finally released the all mighty video lol.”
He may be West African but Patoranking definitely channels Jamaican-Caribbean vibes in most of his songs and this Diamond Platnumz collaboration is no different.
Carrying forward from Lil Uzi’s second stay at Record of the Week, these two African music powerhouses will now be enjoying heavy airplay with their single which is a story of love, depicting the star as a sorptive baby father.
Check it out;
Patoranking gained fame here in Kenya when he teamed up with ‘Yolo Yolo’ singer Seyi Shay for the hit track ‘Murda‘ but slowly garners his own popularity with hit singles ‘No Kissing Baby‘ and more notably ‘My Woman, My Everything‘.
This Naija star was previously rumored to have fathered a child out of wedlock when he posted multiple pics of a young who looked a lot like him, but later cleared things up when he alleged that the boy was actually his younger brother.
Prior to the release of ‘Love You Die’, Patoranking stirred up yet another baby mama rumor by posting pics that we can now see were in fact from the set of this new video but which as you can expect, led his to believe that the star was welcoming his child. Talk about fooling the media.
