Mwamba RFC scrum-half Victor Yoods Wayodi who collapsed on the pitch during a Kenya Cup game yesterday against Top Fry Nakuru at Impala Club Nairobi has now passed on.
He was taken to Nairobi Women’s Hospital after failing to complete the match and cardiac arrest was spelt out as the reason for his death.
Wayodi becomes the second player in the Kenya Cup to pass on in a span of seven days after Nondescript’s centre Ogeto Gecheo who died during a Kenya Cup game against Strathmore Leos on Saturday 3 December 2016.
Gecheo suffered a spinal injury in that match day five tie at Madaraka grounds and passed on two days after the game, in the wee of Tuesday 6 December. He will be laid to rest on Monday in Njoro.
Just like Gecheo, Wayodi was at Maseno School where he was the rugby team captain after which he moved to JKUAT.
