The Tuborg Open Returns – Featuring Diplo and MØ

It’s a music campaign that seeks to bring together incredible talent in the world of music, to deliver a message.

Danish lager brand Tuborg is this year partnering with superstar artists Diplo, MØ and others to bring together culture and diversity – all within one song.

The aim? To encourage people to be ‘Open To More’ – in their own individual styles and ways.

Dip0lo has been here before, having been a major part of last year’s campaign, and this year, collaborates with the rising Danish star on a tune called ‘Stay Open’, with artists from around the world invited to rewrite the verses to tell story of what being ‘Open To More’ means to them.

Diplo says: “To be part of Tuborg Open for the second year is really cool. This year Tuborg came to us with the idea of being “Open to More” and MØ and I were already working on ‘Stay Open,’ this track about how so many times people are closed but it’s important to stay open to new people and experiences…”

Danish vocalist and songwriter MØ is also excited about the collaboration, nothing that by being open to new experiences, you can mix things up0 and see what magic can happen.

The campaign will be supported with on-pack and digital, culminating with a live gig featuring Diplo and MØ as well as some of the local artists, later in the year.

Milan Shah, International Marketing Manager at Tuborg, said, “Tuborg has a long and proud heritage with music, helping introduce new genres and artists to new markets. Through this year’s Tuborg OPEN campaign, we’re once again setting out to encourage people around the world to be Open To More – to be inquisitive, exploring the world around them, trying new experiences and sharing them with others to see where it takes them.”

Nairobi is ready. And absolutely Open To More.

Obama To Open Basketball Court in Siaya

Basketball outreach program Giants of Africa (GOA) has partnered with the Sauti Kuu Foundation by establishing a court at the soon to be opened Sauti Kuu Sports, Resources and Education Centre in Alego, Siaya County.

Toronto Raptors President and GOA founder Masai Ujiri said that the Alego facility scheduled to be opened on July 16th by former United States President Barack Obama is part of a series of basketball courts to be built across Africa in an effort to grow the next generation of African leaders.

“Over the past 15 years I have watched countless timid, hopeful kids transform into inspired, mission-driven leaders as a result of simply being exposed to more,” said Mr. Ujiri.

“As we work to create greater opportunity for young adults on the continent, expansion is our natural next step in delivering on our mission. Basketball opened so many doors and built me up on many levels, so I’m excited to pay that forward to the next generation of African giants,” he added.

Sauti Kuu which is run by Dr. Auma Obama is an organization focused on creating structures to help youth become mentally, socially and financially self-reliant. Ujiri plans to infuse local flavor into the design aesthetic of the basketball structures to feed into the vibrant youth culture of each African country.

Empowered by the impact the game has had on his own journey, Ujiri co-founded Giants of Africa with aspirations to leverage basketball as a vessel for young boys and girls to Dream Big, and visualize opportunities for their future in Africa and around the world.

Since its 2003 launch in Nigeria, the not-for-profit organization has expanded its footprint and programming across the continent and beyond the game. The organization has prioritized skills training and personal development from basketball, health and wellness, to leadership and social impact.

This partnership has been made possible through the relationship between Sauti Kuu and Gina Din Foundation.

“Over the years my foundation the Gina Din Foundation has worked closely to use sports to impact communities. We are delighted with this announcement,” said foundation founder Ms. Gina Din-Kariuki.

“The mission of the Gina Din Foundation is to provide social impact on our youth, and over the years we have seen that sport is an excellent vehicle. With this court, I look forward to all the valuable life skills the local young girls and boys will gain through the medium of basketball,” she added.

King Kaka And Suzziah Are Back With A New One: Slow Me

Rapper King Kaka aka Mr. 254 is back again with the song bird Suzziah.

Their new track, “Slow me” has laid back instrumentals and hard bars from Kaka who in his great command of spoken word, lets us in on how he’s got to where he’s at and what’s been his motivation.

Suzziah doesn’t disappoint either, she comes in with her smooth soothing but strong vocals that will definitely have you singing along to the hook.

Trying to get us to understand  the motive of their grind, the duo is making one thing clear “don’t try to slow me down,” even though they’re just ‘men’ they’re simply trying to build their muscles and hustle.

Listen to the new track below:

The last time they linked up they gave us a fire track called “Angels” where they kept it real hunnit, especially Kaka who did not mince names or words when it came to mentioning guys in the music industry who never believed in his craft, artistes who turned their backs vs those who actually supported and those he hustled with.

Watch it below:

Kanye West’s ‘Ye’ Album Debuts At No.1

Kanye West is one person who is hardly seen smiling but now, the rapper has at least one reason to.

Kanye’s latest album ‘Ye’ has topped the Billboard Hot 200 making it his eighth album to top the charts. The album which was released on June 1 has seen West make chart history, tying Eminem as the only acts with eight consecutive No. 1 debuts.

It seems that every single track on Kanye’s seven-track album has debuted in the top 40 of the Hot 100 chart which is pretty great considering all the controversy that followed when the album was dropped.
