Mark Wahlberg’s Daily Schedule Will Make You Re-think Your Fitness Decisions

There is officially no excuse for not waking up early to work out. Forget pro wrestler turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s 4 am workouts. Mark Wahlberg (the guy from the movies ‘Daddy’s Home 2’, ‘Transformers’, ‘Ted’ and many others) recently revealed his typical day’s schedule and it’s insane (for us sleepyheads ie).

Mark’s day involves two workouts: one at 2:30 am (yes you read that right) and another at 4pm. It also involves four meals, three snacks, and one recovery session in a cryotherapy chamber. It’s no wonder he has such a killer body.

While some of us make up excuses about how we can’t manage to squeeze in a workout in our busy schedule, Mark manages to pick his kids up from school, work, play golf, have family time and make it to bed by 7:30pm!

Time to rethink your schedule because if this is not motivation enough, I don’t know what is.

Most Absurd Yoga Trends Of All Time

Just a few years ago, few people were into fitness and now it is a trend that everyone is jumping on. Yoga as a form of fitness has been there for centuries but Kenyans are just beginning to embrace it.

Forget the conventional Yoga that you’ve probably tried out. New Yoga trends have emerged and some sound absurd but they really are a thing. Let’s take a look at some of the oddest yoga trends today:

Goat Yoga

Who knew goats would one day become useful in fitness? The whole idea is getting the goats to walk on your back while doing the moves. Apparently they lightly massage your back with their hoofs and it’s meant to be therapeutic. P.S: They poop all over the place! Comedian Kevin Hart tried this out and this happened:

Beer yoga

Well this is a good excuse to have beer at the middle of the day. Get intoxicated and achieve transcendence at the same time. You’ll probably be tipsy by the time you are done but hey, still a work-out right? No, lol. Just see what happened when Kevin Hart tried it:

SUP Yoga

Known as stand up paddleboard yoga is taking yoga to a whole other level. It’s basically doing yoga while floating on water. It’s meant to calm you down, unless you have a phobia of seas and depth. The thought that you might fall in water makes you focus more on your balance and poses. Would you try it out?

Yoga and weed

Inhaling weed before doing Yoga is apparently a thing. According to cannabis yoga experts, cannabis elevates your senses, giving you a better yoga experience. Just wondering, what happens to the munchies though?

Dog yoga

This is almost similar to goat yoga, just that this time, your dog does the poses as well. Apparently it helps create a better relationship with your pet.

Which one of these would you try out? Let me know in the comments below.

New Fashion Trend Alert! Skin Implanted Accessories

Fashion keeps evolving but are fashion implants something you could try?

There is a new trend courtesy of new futuristic fashion brand, A. Human, that has got celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen looking like aliens (in my opinion).

Kim posted a video of her new look on Instagram showing off her choker necklace that seems to be implanted in her skin and syncs to her heartbeat.

“My necklace glows like a heartbeat,” Kardashian said in the video. “It moves to the rhythm of my heartbeat. Thank you A. Human.”

Meanwhile, Chrissy Teigen went for an entirely different piece of body artwork resembling skin-like feathers across her chest.

The person behind this ‘insane’ fashion style is Society of Spectacle founder Simon Huck. A.Human is set to show its first collection during New York Fashion Week through an interactive exhibition whereby they will also show other artifacts such as the biological heel, a heel implanted in the foot that’s been designed to look like a shell.

Don’t be shocked to see celebrities rocking this new style on the next red carpet.

Can You Drink Alcohol And Still Lose Weight? (Yup! Here’s How)

Let’s face it, sometimes there’s nothing better than a night in on the couch with a glass of wine to help you relax. But, can you lose weight and still enjoy your occasional beer or cocktails?

Yes, you can, and here’re how:

Change up your routine

Sucker for daily happy hour? How about switching your gym hours to evening to avoid going out? This way, you will end up drinking less, and keeping up with your daily workouts. You’ll probably experience FOMO (fear of missing out) for the first few days but you’ll get the gist of it eventually.

Be mindful of the amount you are drinking

For many people, a glass or two is unrealistic. Once you start drinking, there is no stopping till the night ends. You need to learn to control how many drinks you have. The whole point is to avoid increasing the amount of calorie intake. It’s a skill that takes time to perfect but it is really worth it.

Choose a drink that you actually enjoy

If you have consistently been sticking to a healthy diet, then once you decide to break the rules a little, you might as well enjoy it. Forget the number of calories and choose a drink you actually enjoy. It’s okay to have a good time every once in a while.

Drink lots of water

You have probably heard this before. Drinking water in between your drinks is the smartest way to drink. Not only does it reduce your chances of getting a hangover but also helps reduce on the number of drinks you will have. The fewer the number of drinks, the fewer the calories.

Learn to have a good time sober

Yeah, I know. It will be one of the hardest things you’ll have to do to lose weight but you need to try. Learn to have a good time despite being sober among drunks. Look on the bright side; you will avoid the bad hangover.

Most Bizarre Eating Habits Of Celebrities

Celebrities with all their glamour can be pretty weird. These guys can afford all they amazing chefs but for some odd reason, they choose to follow some of the weirdest diets ever. Let’s take a look at some of the oddest celebrity eating habits:

Steve Jobs

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs practically lived on carrots for weeks! He reportedly turned orange due to this. Jobs believed that his vegan diet helped keep odors away enabling him to bathe just once a week (gross).

Mariah Carey

Mariah is known to be a diva which is no surprise that she does this thing called the “Purple Diet”. For three days each week, Mariah eats things that are purple in color, like grapes, eggplants etc. Celebrities…smh.

Nicolas Cage

Now this is hilarious. Actor Nicolas Cage does not eat pork because he thinks they don’t have dignified sex! Yeah, you read that right.

Mark Zuckerberg

In 2011, the Facebook C.E.O made it his personal challenge to only eat animals that he killed himself. Not bad for a billionaire considering he killed a pig, slit a goat’s throat and slaughtered a chicken, something that some Kenyans can’t do.

Hugh Hefner

Playboy Mansion founder Hugh Hefner only eats food made from Playboy Mansion kitchen, even when dining out.

Madonna

I think this is the hardest one yet. So Madonna does this thing called the air diet whereby she gets whatever food she feels like eating, but instead of eating it (like a normal person would) she ‘eats’ the air above the meal to try and trick her brain into thinking that she has actually eaten the meal. Yeah, no thank you.

6 Fitness Trends Of 2018 You should Jump On

Fitness and healthy living are the new craze. You literally cannot scroll through social media and not stumble upon any of these things. It’s like humanity has suddenly realized that life is short and we need to do everything we can to prolong our life. Due to this, different fitness trends have come up, and today, we take a look at 5 of the most popular fitness trends today:

Running groups

Running groups have become quite common nowadays. It is one great way to motivate you to get off your comfort zone and exercise. Running groups are really fun, and great way to make new friends and get lifelong partners (you never know). Join one in your estate or just start your own. Invite a group of friends, who will invite other people too and soon you will have a crew.

Wearable Tech

From heart rate monitors to smart watches and activity trackers, wearable technology has become quite popular and helpful today. Heart rate monitors, for example enable you to know how hard you are working during a sweat session. It is amazing how the simple things we use like our phones aid in achieving our fitness goals.

High Intensity Interval Training

HIIT sessions are known to burn more calories than slower exercises. It’s no wonder more people are jumping on this fitness craze. Here’s how HIIT works: short bursts of high intensity exercise followed by a slower-paced recovery period and only lasts 30 minutes or less. There is really no reason not to do it since HIIT is time efficient and very effective.

Strength Training

Can we even call this a trend? The good old strength training has proven to burn fat, gain muscles and keep your heart healthy since decades ago. People have embraced weight training a whole lot more these days and you should too.

Personal trainers

Is it just me or half the people who share their fitness progress on social media seem to have personal trainers? Whether you prefer a lady or man, these guys guarantee to help you reach your fitness goals by ensuring you work hard and use the correct form.

Yoga

Before, Yoga would be known as a white people activity but over the years, Africans too have come to embrace this form of fitness. Yoga not only helps you recover from previous exercise but also helps improve your flexibility and boost your mental health.

Tips And Tricks Of Networking For Introverts

Networking is a great way to build business relationships but it can be very intimidating, for most of us at least. It does not have to be so hard to network, just use these simple tips and tricks:

Show up early

When you show up early, chances are that there will be fewer people and the event won’t have started just yet. This is a nice time to network since people are still relaxed.

Bring a friend

If you are the shy awkward type, it would be a great idea to bring a friend along. Make sure this is someone who brings out the best in you and isn’t afraid to leave you alone.

Listen more, speak less

At least for the first few minutes after striking a conversation with someone, listen to what they have to say. Make the conversation about them by asking questions like why they came to the event, what line of work they are in, what they like about it etc. This will make an impression and also make it easier for you to talk about yourself and your work.

Set a way to follow up

You want to skip that awkward phase of wanting to contact someone but not have a reason to do it. Make sure that you have already arranged to follow up before the conversation ends. Dig up something that’s useful to them, and email it to them then maybe later if you get a response, offer to meet up for coffee. That is how you make lasting relationships.

Set yourself up for success

Think about the various places people go to network, from a bar, conference to post-meeting drinks. List them down and evaluate which places you are more comfortable and able to be at your best self. This way, you are already setting up yourself for success as you will be able to interact while at your best self.

Everyday Millionaire Habits You Need To Adopt

Millionaires. We think of them as such complex beings that require a certain level of intelligence to understand but in the contrary, they are not. Millionaires share some common habits, some of which we can easily adopt in order to become successful. Here are 5 millionaire habits you should adopt:

Reading culture

Most millionaires are known to be readers. Most do not read for entertainment; they prefer biographies, history, and self-help books. Adopt a reading culture. Start off with self-help books that will give you tips and tricks of being a successful business person and about life as well.

They have multiple sources of income

Millionaires are always looking for an opportunity to invest, no wonder shows like Lion’s Den and Shark Tank came up. This way, millionaires are able to handle any economic downturns, as well as make even more money.

They don’t act rich

Living a lavish lifestyle is hardly a priority for millionaires. Yes, they do treat themselves to nice things, but they make saving a priority. Saving is what made them millionaires in the first place, so they save more and invest even more. Researchers from Experian Automotive found that “61 percent of people who earn $250,000 or more aren’t buying luxury brands at all. They’re buying the same Toyotas, Hondas and Fords as the rest of us.”

The reason? They’re not willing to spend the money on a premium vehicle that is going to drop up to 70 percent in value within the first four years. It’s also why they avoid leasing cars because it ultimately costs more money. Instead, they invest in items that increase in value.

They set goals and pursue them

Wealthy people are obsessed with pursuing goals. This helps them focus on what’s important first and build momentum.

They have mentors

Successful people spend time with other successful people. People like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg had mentors who helped them rise to where they are today. Find yourself a mentor who will guide you through your career and advice you on how to avoid common pitfalls and mistakes.

Post-Workout Mistakes Slowing Down Your Progress

It takes grueling effort to get to the gym in this cold weather. If we’re going to put in the effort then we might as well make sure our hard work moves us a step closer to our workout goals. What we do post-workout is as important as what we do pre-workout. I know your couch feels so comfortable after a workout but there’re just a few things you need to avoid doing post-workout so that you avoid sabotaging your progress:

Staying in your gym clothes for too long

First of all, you stink! So collapsing on your couch for an hour is just downright disgusting. Besides that, staying in your gym clothes after a work-out (whether you are sweaty or not) can cause skin rashes and bacterial infections and you don’t want that.

Waiting too long to refuel

It is advisable to refuel 30 minutes after a work-out because your body needs the necessary nutrients to recover. If you hardly have the time to do so, carry a protein shake with you. It will cover you until you get the time to have a full meal.

Skipping cool down

Some days we just want to finish and leave the gym as quickly as possible that we ignore cool-down. Always give yourself at least five minutes of stretching. This will reduce your heart rate, your breathing rate and give your muscles a chance to relax.

Going straight to happy hour

Some people hit the gym then head straight to the club beers, which is fine. Just make sure your hydrate enough before taking alcohol, otherwise you’ll just end up increasing your dehydration and slowing your muscle recovery.

Binge eating

Feeling like you kicked ass during your workout and you deserve to reward yourself is fine. But what’s that reward? If it involves unhealthy foods like pizza and burgers then you are just taking a step back. It is important to stick to a healthy diet no matter how intense a work-out you have just done.

5 Bill Gates Tips To Becoming A Successful Entrepreneur

We all want to be successful, no doubt. Most people dream of being their own boss, working on their own terms. Bill Gates is the most successful entrepreneur to ever live, having founded Microsoft in 1975. He has been the richest man alive for years, so it would be pretty dumb not to take to account some of his tips on being a successful entrepreneur.

Start early

Bill Gates started working on computers when he was 13 years old. Find that one thing that you are so passionate about and proceed to working towards making a living out of it. The earlier you start, the earlier you will become successful and the less likely you are to give up.

Life is not fair

Gates once said “Life is not fair, get used to it”. You will fail a couple of times, it’s part of the journey to becoming successful. Things may not go your way, but you need to be able to get back up until you make it.

Always think ahead

Bill Gates saw the internet was the future and so he worked hard to develop Microsoft which has been known to beat competitors throughout the years as they were always one step ahead, looking for the next big thing. Even after retiring, he knew his next move – philanthropy. Always think ahead.

Learn from unhappy customers

Bill once said, “Your unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning”. Over the years, people have complained about certain Microsoft aspects but still continue to use the software. Why? Gates and his team respond to customer feedback and make improvements or changes where need be. Learn to do the same in your business.

Revolutionary ideas are shown, not told

In the early 80’s, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer would travel around the country delivering seminars about how graphic interfaces were the operating systems of the future – but nobody believed them. Attitudes changed quickly in 1984, when Apple launched the Macintosh. It became the first commercially successful computer with a graphical user interface (GUI).

Microsoft was able to release Windows 1.0 in 1985, just a year after the Mac’s success. If you’ve got a revolutionary idea, don’t worry if other people don’t get it. Start developing it now so that you’ll be prepared when the time is right.
