  • 5 Bill Gates Tips To Becoming A Successful Entrepreneur

We all want to be successful, no doubt. Most people dream of being their own boss, working on their own terms. Bill Gates is the most successful entrepreneur to ever live, having founded Microsoft in 1975. He has been the richest man alive for years, so it would be pretty dumb not to take to account some of his tips on being a successful entrepreneur.

Start early

Bill Gates started working on computers when he was 13 years old. Find that one thing that you are so passionate about and proceed to working towards making a living out of it. The earlier you start, the earlier you will become successful and the less likely you are to give up.

Life is not fair

Gates once said “Life is not fair, get used to it”. You will fail a couple of times, it’s part of the journey to becoming successful. Things may not go your way, but you need to be able to get back up until you make it.

Always think ahead

Bill Gates saw the internet was the future and so he worked hard to develop Microsoft which has been known to beat competitors throughout the years as they were always one step ahead, looking for the next big thing. Even after retiring, he knew his next move – philanthropy. Always think ahead.

Learn from unhappy customers

Bill once said, “Your unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning”. Over the years, people have complained about certain Microsoft aspects but still continue to use the software. Why? Gates and his team respond to customer feedback and make improvements or changes where need be. Learn to do the same in your business.

Revolutionary ideas are shown, not told

In the early 80’s, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer would travel around the country delivering seminars about how graphic interfaces were the operating systems of the future – but nobody believed them. Attitudes changed quickly in 1984, when Apple launched the Macintosh. It became the first commercially successful computer with a graphical user interface (GUI).

Microsoft was able to release Windows 1.0 in 1985, just a year after the Mac’s success. If you’ve got a revolutionary idea, don’t worry if other people don’t get it. Start developing it now so that you’ll be prepared when the time is right.
